Game of Thrones - Season 8 - NO SPOILERS PLEASE

Best conversation of the night was between Tyrion and Varys. I loved Tyrion's line that thinking about offing the queen isn't treason, but talking about it is. It'll be interesting to see where his allegiance is really. I think it'll be with Sansa and not Dany.

I think Jaime left to kill Cersei, I just wish he'd said goodbye to Brienne differently. And when are they going to use Bran's skills?! Couldn't he have told them "hey, Euron is there waiting for you.. be careful". He just seems useless.

And do you think Euron caught the fact that Tyrion knew about Cersei's baby? Hopefully that puts a rift between them. I really hope Dany gets some kind of redemption. They built her up so much over the past 7 seasons and season 8 has taken so much from her and she seems to be losing it.
The whole thing of them getting together just didn’t work for me. She may have been into him for a while but him becoming interested in her needed a much longer run-up.

I’m not rooting for Daenerys. Strictly speaking, the Iron Throne is not hers to take, it’s Jon’s. She rejected the easiest and most obvious solution of them ruling together. Her power-hungry side has emerged and I think we all know the final battle will be between the two of them. I hope when he wins, he will rule as a Stark, not Targaryen, putting an end to that dynasty forever.

Did anyone else feel Rhaegal's death coming as soon as they showed the dragons flying over Dragonstone? My first thought was dang they're dangerously exposed right now....
I still hate how that was written. It makes no sense. They may have gone south intending to spare the innocent population of King’s Landing but there was no reason in the world for her not to have incinerated Euron’s fleet on sight. :furious:

I'm rewatching last week's episode & just really, really love the music that played over the action.

That said, the music was leading up to a crescendo that fell a little short, in my opinion - even though Arya was awesome.

The Night King was just gone too fast, & I really thought there would be way more between the Night King & Bran than how it ended.

I felt like the Night King was going to say something, maybe ask Bran something. It appeared as if he was just reaching for his spear, but then I wonder because he was perfectly prepared to reach out and grab Arya at just the right moment.

I was mostly disappointed in last night due to the writing. My biggest gripe of all is finally getting a scene with all four Starks alone together, talking to each other as a family -- and then the big reveal is off screen!?!? The writing seems to be a series of supposed nods to the fans, but they are so clumsy and mostly ring hollow. All the best stuff is rushed.

ETA: And Jon sent Ghost away?!?! IMO Sansa's warnings are spot on about the men in her family riding south. Major drama with Gendry coming.

The thought is that Jaime is actually going to kill Cersei and he didn't want Brienne to follow him and die.

Yes, this. He's totally off to try to kill his sister. I think he also feels that planning murder makes him a bad person unworthy of Brienne's love, hence the harsh parting.

Did you notice, however, that Jon didn't break his promise to Dany? HE isn't the one who told Sansa and Arya. He let Bran tell them. I wondered if that was foreshadowing to a new conversation between Jon and Dany where she would question him about this. Varys was also right. If 8 people know the truth, it isn't a secret anymore, but a conversation.

Yeah, lots of weird stuff in that episode. Some is redeemable but I have lost much confidence that the writers will pull it off. The first 20 minutes or so of the show was great and the last hour, not so much.

Dany and her troops again prove they are the WORST army evah. You fly both dragons in broad daylight around never expecting that they might have developed some sort of weapon to shoot them down? They've know for months you are coming with them. I get they needed to kill off another dragon to even the odds up more, but then just let Rhaegal die last week as it appeared he did. That was a far better way to kill him off and made more sense. Because why in the heck once exposed would Dany not just circle Drogon around to the back of Euron's fleet and torch them? Hello? Dragons can fly and those ships could not turn around quickly enough to re-position those crossbows. Done. Stupid, again.

Of course, Cersei would have killed Dany and her paltry little group of Unsullied. More stupidity.

I was okay with the Jamie/Brianne thing. A nice bit of fan service there. Who would ever buy them as living happily ever after? And I think it's pretty obvious Jamie is heading off to kill Cersei. I don't see Jamie making it out of this show alive.

I swear if they don't give Arya some kind of scene using her faceless man skills I'm going to be really irritated. They spent an entire season with her gaining that skill and with the exception of the incredibly satisfying end of Walder Frey, has she used it at all? I'm mostly hoping she kills Cersei disguised as Jamie or Tyrion.

I don't care at all who ends up on the Iron Throne. Who would want it? I'm still wondering if we don't find out Tyrion is a Targaryen and maybe he ends up on the throne. I'd be happy enough with that.

I did enjoy seeing Gendry getting legitimized and getting Storm's End and the potential for Bronn to get Highgarden. Bronn's speech about all the great houses getting started with a hard bastard was nice and a think a likely nod to how much of this will wind up.

Lastly, I was initially irritated they didn't show the scene with Bran telling Sansa and Arya about Jon's lineage, but I'm hoping against hope that there's some kind of secret plot or something that happened during that conversation that they deliberately are keeping from us. I just have to believe that Bran plays some bigger role in all of this and I have to believe there is some new birth to the Night King and White Walkers. Please, writers, surprise us.

True. We're also left wondering how Tyrion and Varys are aware -- but then again we're also led to believe that Varys has something like his little birds network up and running again. I really struggle with that idea after seeing the original network co opted by Qyburn and seeing their fate at the Sept.

I assume that's what Sansa tells Tyrion in Winterfell before he leaves. Tyrion then tells Varys. I don't recall Sansa swearing not to tell, did she? I know that Arya did.

Thank you! Exactly what I said last night.

I'm struggling to see that Jamie is in fact off to kill Cersei. I think there's just too much water under that bridge. Cersei can't even bring herself to end Tyrion -- and he's shown up with the rival queen, representative rival forces and demanding her abdication.

Does Cersei have the follow through to kill Jamie? I think yes -- once he drops some shocking news on her.

You could be right there. I could see that she'd be unable to kill Jamie and vice versa. Maybe the three are just too tightly bound together...

So if Gendry is now made legitimate son of Robert, wouldn't he be the true king now? What if Dany and Jon both die...wouldn't it be Gendry? I wonder if Dany will die soon (or go mad) and Arya will push Jon to do what he doesn't want to do...step up and rule. And she will see he will do what's best for the realm even though it's 'not him'. Then she will realize she should marry Gendry...maybe she will realize it is 'her' as Jon realizes it is him (to be king).

I predict Dany dies. Varys will die. Hound and Mountain and Cersei will die. ANd Euron...cannot wait for his smug face to be wiped away. Jaime will probably die.

I don't feel that Sansa, Arya, Tyrion or Gendry will die. Maybe Brienne will realize what Jaime is doing and will go after him and she will die too.

And Bran...how flippin useless is he. I am waiting to see if he has any use at all. Guessing not.

I think Jamie's mission is to tell Cersei something he believes is known only to him. I think Cersei will kill him for it.

I agree about the four who survive. I don't see Brienne leaving Sansa. She's sworn an oath and she will keep it. I'm hopeful she survives.

I think Bran has some tea to spill, possibly in the final episode. Although I'm guessing the audience will already be in on the reveal.

Bran isn't useless at all. He has provided invaluable information at critical times.

If you're expecting him to suddenly turn into a Marvel Avenger, then yes, you'll be disappointed.

Yes. And I think he left abruptly because he didn’t want Brienne to follow him.

He didn't. But Gendry is also not a son born of marriage so he also could not, by old rules, be Lord of Storm's End or whatever the Bartheon castle is. Unless he is made legitimate like Ramsey Bolton was. I suppose Elaria could not be made legitimate. Though maybe time to throw out the old rules. They did have many daughters so one of those could be but they don't really have time for that. That would be for the sequel down the line I guess.

Woke up thinking about this! Dany just created another contender with a legitimate claim for the throne.

I think last night's show was lower budget. So, no sweet goodbyes between Jon and Ghost, and they needed to lose a dragon. They didn't even reshoot the scene with the coffee cup.

She did hire Bronn to kill them both so she may believe Jamie is already dead. I think she didn't kill Tyrion there because it would look bad to the KL populace to kill an unarmed diplomat. At least that's what I thought to myself.
