    News Round Up 2018

I agree with you on not liking the look of the Aventura, but have to disagree about BLT ... but it’s my home resort and walking proximity to MK cannot be beat!

    News Round Up 2018

I thought Disney removing the “no-expiry” ticket option was a low blow to their repeat customers. (For international visitors, those tickets were golden ... you could pick them up when your exchange rate was good and save them for future trips ... the 10 Day ones were good for 2+ trips for us.)...

Official Disney Cake Chatter - Part V!

That cake design was our original inspiration for my brother-in-laws 40th birthday cake back in April. We just wanted to add a white chocolate monorail to it. The price Disney quoted us was out of our "willing to pay range" though, so we ended up with a much more sedate (less fun / whimsical)...

NEWS 5/17: Late 2019 itineraries released - link in post #1 (2020 watch thread will start soon)

Not sure if someone already made this comment or not, but I really think the issue with NYC/Quebec departures is the time of year they are offered. To me, the appeal of a cruise with a NYC departure is that it would be more convenient to get to than a southern cruise port. I imagine a lot of...

    News Round Up 2018

Not really a rumour (or news), but the following conversation occurred today between two boys in one of the Grade 12 math classes I teach ... Student 1: "Why are there so many Star Wars films all of a sudden?" Student 2: "Well, it's because Disney bought Lucasfilm for like $3 billion and now...

REVAMP of Whispering Canyon Cafe BEGINS

We’ve had a number of great meals at WCC over the years ... even our Bavkstage Magic Tour lunch stop was there a number of years back ... the most recent being breakfast after the 2018 Star Wars Dark Side 5K. Food’s always been good to great and, in our experience, the antics have always...

Official Disney Cake Chatter - Part V!

This is the cake we got for my brother-in-law’s 40th birthday. It was made by the Contemporary Bakery and delivered to our Boulder Ridge Villa at WIlderness Lodge. Icing was chocolate buttercream, filling was peanut butter mousse and 8” cake was marble. It was made to be treenut and sesame...

Official 2018 Star Wars Dark Side Weekend

First ever runDisney event was a success, thanks in part to info and advice on this thread! My mom and I were in “Wave 2” of Coral F for the 5K ... our first ever race ... we pretty much maintained the 16 min pace, which was an accomplishment for me ... funny how fear of seeing a ballon lady...

NEWS 5/17: Late 2019 itineraries released - link in post #1 (2020 watch thread will start soon)

My only 2 cruises to date have been a DCL Alaska back when they started going there in 2011 and the inaugural Iceland in 2016 ... at this rate, I’ll never get to Castaway Cay! If an Antarctic cruise was a summer option, I would seriously consider it! Looking into Canada / New England instead...

NEWS 5/17: Late 2019 itineraries released - link in post #1 (2020 watch thread will start soon)

As of this evening, we’re out too ... main concern is being in the heat of the Caribbean for that length of time mid-summer. I sometimes struggle with the Florida weather when we visit in July/August. Not really a gamble we want to take at the expected price point. Southern Caribbean is still...

Yay or Nay- 11 night Iceland and Norway

We were on the inaugural Iceland in 2015 as well .... another vote for best cruise ever! It was the first cruise for 5 of the 8 in our party .... no “too long / too much” issues for anyone, including 3 boys who were 8, 6 and 6. We had three cabins ... 2 inside, one verandah. I was in an inside...

Official 2018 Star Wars Dark Side Weekend

Thanks again everyone for the coping with the heat and training for the heat suggestions. Fingers crossed for tolerable weather as I expect I won’t have much wiggle room to slow down that much. I’m not much of a runner/athlete ... this will be my first 5K and my main goal is to finish and not...

The July 27th S. Carib. has my attention ... dates totally work ... hope pricing does too! (I know it will be high, just hoping not too high.)

Wish list is likely unrealistic but ... Hawaii, Southern Caribbean or East Coast (New York / Canada even Bermuda) during summer break would be tempting. In the far-fetched category, Australia / New Zealand would be awesome (maybe slightly less far-fetched once the new ships arrive).

Official 2018 Star Wars Dark Side Weekend

Thanks everyone for the weather input ... there is a significant chance it will still be winter (snow on the ground etc.) in my neck of the woods well into April, so will definitely need to mentally prepare for the Florida humidity! Thanks also for the bring your own hydration tip.

Race Day Bib Pick Up from VWL (SW 5K)

Thanks. We did get confirmation from runDisney that we could get "bibs only" that morning; we even included our flight info in the email so they knew we were legit. LOL (The trip is a surprise short weekend getaway trip for a family member ... our flights and hotel were booked before we even...

Race Day Bib Pick Up from VWL (SW 5K)

What time would you recommend leaving VWL for the SW 5K if you also had to pick up your race bib at the staging area that morning? Along the same lines, should we be ok on Disney transport or should we plan to taxi/Uber/Minnie van? There will be 4 of us, first runDisney for all of us and first...
