Can we all pretend to be jurors for a minute?
I am getting really upset that the talking heads keeps saying that River/Krystal's testimony just ruined George's credibility.
OK..we are the jurors and this is what we hear:
Ashton: It was your statement to the police that George said he believed that is was an accident that spiraled out of control
River/Krystal: No he said it was an accident.....
Ashton (shows her the actuall statement): Was this your statement ..that he believed it as an accident
River/Krystal: Yes
To me the word believe is the crust of it. He believed..meaning he didn't know, but it was a feeling in his gut. Also, when he said he KNEW...I took that to mean again, that it was a feeling, like "I just know I flunked my test"
Ok, as a juror...did you get what I got? Please tell me there are some intelligent jurors on this panel, and they got what Ashton was trying to point out.
Isn't it rather a moot point given the Judge's instruction because this can now only be used to impeach George?
As a pretend juror I say that George Anthony "might" have slept with that woman and lied about it, but that only impeaches him on lying about infidelity. It does not make me believe that the rest of his testimony is worthless. I thought Krystal/River was unpleasant and not credible on the words "know" and "believe" issue. I think Ashton made that point quite well.
Having watched quite a lot of the trial, I think that, unlike Cindy, George Anthony suspected that Casey was completely full of it early on. As ex-Homicide, he felt in his gut that Caylee was dead and that Casey was lying, but didn't want to believe that she was a murderer. His making that comment to Holloway could simply mean that he found it easier to *believe* it was accident but doesn't mean he *knew* it.
