    Winter Illnesses

There is no feeling or question about it; we (US, and also Canada) are in the latest big winter surge of Covid, along with the typical seasonal surge of all the "regular" stuff. The Covid wastewater ticked up around the general time that school started, had just started to level out, and then...

Free Covid Home Test program resuming Monday

No it hasn't. The original 'hygiene hypothesis' has been debunked many times over. It is now understood that the majority of viruses should not be considered "safe" to catch as it does almost nothing to improve immunity and actually makes the immune system worse and can lead to development of...

slo’s WEDNESDAY 9/6 poll - Making Your Bed

Making your bed as soon as you get out of it is good for the dust mites. Very allergic to dust mites, so no bed making for me. I will straighten it up to get into it if necessary. And obviously it's made each week when the sheets are changed.

Brought Home a Disney Souvenir- COVID

And in 6 months if any of these athletes "drop dead" guess what people will blame? :sad2: It's not a nasty flu and this is a narrative that needs to stop being pushed. It's a multisystem dysfunction infection masquerading as a respiratory illness. Unlike early in the pandemic, one good thing...

Brought Home a Disney Souvenir- COVID

No one is surprised. What absolutely boggles my mind is that we can't say "covid" anymore. Concerts across the world being cancelled due to "illness" and "lung infection;" the "mystery illness" that's hitting everyone at the US Open right now. I mean it's absolute insanity. It's one thing to...

New Menu coming to Artist's Palatte at Saratoga

The article states "the Saratoga Salad is here to stay" then goes on to describe ... not the Saratoga Salad AT ALL. What gives? The Saratoga Salad never had feta (or any kind of cheese). It always had blueberries.

Horrific. The pictures and videos look like a horror movie. The climate catastrophe is no longer coming ... it's here.

    Is this "joke" funny?

Yeah, it's funny. Sounds like her canned response to people asking for senior discounts. It didn't land with you and that's fine. But it's not offensive.

    America

it's disingenuous to pretend that "African-American" has only geographical implications technically Elon Musk is a white South African with Canadian and South African citizenship by birth, and US citizenship by immigration

    America

More bizarre to pretend that 'opportunity' is an option open to anyone coming to the US ... or even many already here. The opportunity for who to do what?

    Covid? Strep? Flu?

I agree with mono testing, but HMPV and adenovirus have been circulating lately. Care is palliative though so not sure if testing for these will help other than for data collection purposes. Sinus rinses, antiviral nasal spray, and lots of rest may help.

    SAT Prep

The majority of universities will no longer require the SAT for classes beginning Fall 2023. I might consider saving that money for better use. The SAT, nor any standardized test, is not a good measure of how suited someone is for college, and they are finally realizing that.

    Pin Trading still popular?

Pin trading is still big but it's mostly done via pin boards now. The park maps have the pin board locations and each location usually has a list of the other locations that you can snap a pic of.
